Social Insurance Unit, Ministry of Social Affairs

We are currently looking for an experienced colleague to our unit.

As an employee of the Social Insurance Unit, you contribute to the unit's work in developing and managing social insurance - an area in constant change that interacts with and adapts to both national and international factors. The work is fast-paced and highly problem-solving focused. The unit's main tasks include the development of legislative products, government management, preparation of materials and analyses for the political leadership, budget work, and coordination of international social insurance issues. The work is conducted in close dialogue with both the department's management and with other units, departments, authorities, and organizations. The tasks will span various areas of social insurance. The main focus for the current position will be the coordination of international, primarily European, social insurance issues. It may also be relevant to work on other matters within the unit's area of responsibility.

Your Background

We are looking for someone with an academic degree primarily in political science, law, or economics, alternatively you have another equivalent degree that we assess to be relevant. You have several years of current and relevant work experience in social insurance issues combined with experience in EU matters or other relevant international work experience. Furthermore, you have knowledge of Swedish public administration and a good understanding of the EU's organization, working methods, and regulations. The position places high demands on your communication skills, which means you should be able to communicate fluently in both Swedish and English, orally and in writing. Knowledge of French is advantageous.

It is meritorious to have knowledge of the Swedish social insurance system in a European and international perspective, understanding and knowledge of the purposes of social insurance and the system's construction and its regulations, benefits, and administration. Furthermore, it is meritorious to have knowledge of EU law that is relevant to the social insurance area. It is also advantageous if you have knowledge of relevant international negotiations and other EU languages.

Your Qualities

To thrive in the role of case officer at the Social Insurance Unit, you need to be able to independently plan, structure, and prioritize your work effectively and take responsibility for meeting both short deadlines and driving long-term processes forward. You are collaborative and proactive, as well as having good judgment and high integrity. You have the ability to establish and develop contacts. You are analytical and can compile and draw conclusions from extensive and complex materials. You should be prepared for the unexpected and are expected to deliver and shift focus quickly, which places high demands on your flexibility. You have experience in producing high-quality written materials and delivering stringent oral presentations tailored to the audience.

We offer a permanent position that begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date as soon as possible.

A security clearance will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
